Bentley Motors, the storied British luxury car brand, was in danger of landing in the trash heap until Volkswagen AG bought it in 1998 and five years later introduced the world to the sleek and sexy Continental GT coupe.
With a 6.0-litre, twin-turbo, 12-cylinder engine that could go more than 200 miles per hour, the Continental GT marked a new beginning for Bentley, whose worldwide sales rocketed from barely 1,000 in 2003 to more than 12,000 in 2016, fueled by new models like the $229,000 Bentayga SUV, introduced in 2016.
