Nissan signs MoU to build assembly plant in Ghana

With the company already holding a 32% market share in the country, Nissan aims to make Ghana its sales hub in West Africa, despite already operating a facility in Nigeria.

Speaking after signing a memorandum of understanding with Ghana’s trade ministry, Mike Whitfield, Nissan’s managing director for Africa, said: “We see Ghana as the gateway to West Africa. We will grow our business presence in the region and it’s for the long term.”

It is thought that the company’s plans are subject to a national auto policy that the government are anticipated to launch by the end of 2018.
