Samsung building $220m R&D centre in Vietnam

Construction is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2022.

Last year Samsung closed its Chinese phone factory at Huizhou which it had operated for 17 yeas and which had employed about 6,000 workers.

In 2017 Huizhou produced 63 million phones out of Samsung’s total phone shipments that year of 394 million units.

Samsung is said to be sourcing production of its latest top end phone, the Galaxy S20, from Vietnam.
