We’ve got some good news for people who like proposed bipartisan legislation that would expand coverage for the domestic procurement rules that govern federal spending on infrastructure!
Sen. Tammy Baldwin – from Wisconsin, a Democrat – and Sen. Mike Braun – from Indiana, a Republican – have reintroduced the Made in America Act, which would identify “federal programs that fund infrastructure projects not currently subject to Buy America standards” and ensure “that materials used in these federal programs are domestically produced.” The bill would also require that the U.S. Department of Commerce, while setting the standards on which construction materials will be considered American-made, to ensure that their manufacturing processes support American jobs.
