VW’s Switch to Electric Cars to Cost Over 10,000 Jobs: Report

Volkswagen plans to cut more than 10,000 jobs in coming years as the German auto giant switches its focus to making electric cars in the wake of the “dieselgate” scandal, a top executive has said.

“It’s not about dismantling a few hundred jobs,” VW’s head of human resources Karlheinz Blessing told the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung’s Saturday edition.

“Over the years, it will amount to a five-digit figure around the world.”
