Profits Climb As Fiat Chrysler Fends Off Legal Inquiries Over Sales Reporting

Fiat Chrysler Automobiles reported a healthy bump in second-quarter earnings and raised its profit forecast, but its stock is not responding as the company has admitted to sloppy sales reporting and its CEO continues to flirt with vague pronouncements about possible alliance partners.

FCA reported net profit was $321 million euros ($352 million), up 25% from a year earlier. Because of continued strong sales of the company’s truck and SUV business, FCA raised its revenue forecast to above 112 billion euros from 110 billion euros, while increasing its full-year earnings before taxes and interest forecast to “above 5.5 billion euros” from “above 5 billion euros” previously.
