HD Hyundai Construction Equipment has launched an advanced smart factory at its Ulsan Campus in South Korea, positioning itself as a global hub for construction equipment manufacturing. This innovative facility highlights the company’s dedication to integrating state-of-the-art technologies aimed at boosting production and logistics capabilities. Since 2023, an investment of $150 million has been directed towards this project, unifying Factory 1 and Factory 2 over a 234,710-square-meter expanse.
Notable innovations include real-time product tracking and automated guided vehicles, designed to increase labor productivity by 20% and reduce product completion time by 35%. The factory is poised to elevate its annual production capacity for excavators and wheel loaders by 56%, achieving a total output of 15,000 units. By leveraging connections with major global subsidiaries and customization centers, Hyundai aspires to solidify its status as a leading production entity.
During the inauguration, which key executives and partners attended, initial deliveries of large-scale equipment were dispatched to markets including South Korea, the United States, and Europe. Despite a recent decline in sales and operating profits, the company remains committed to improving quality competitiveness and developing next-generation models. This strategic endeavor reflects Hyundai’s ambition to maintain leadership in the construction equipment sector, blending innovation with sustainable practices.
