Can Kesar’s New Fertilizer Plant Boost Its Revenue by 20%?

Kesar Petroproducts has announced the commencement of commercial production at its newly inaugurated fertilizer plant in Ratnagiri, Maharashtra. Known for its copper phthalocyanine blue crude pigment and derivative products, the company is expanding its business operations by entering the fertilizer sector. This development marks a strategic initiative to enhance the firm’s annual revenue by leveraging by-products from its pigment production to manufacture high-end fertilizers. The new facility is projected to have an annual output capacity of 6,000 tonnes, underscoring Kesar Petroproducts’ growth ambitions.

The company occupies a significant position in India’s copper phthalocyanine market, comprising 15% of the market share with products such as copper phthalocyanine blue crude, alpha blue, beta blue, and pigment green. These pigments serve various industries, including printing inks, paints and coatings, plastics, and textiles. During the December 2024 quarter, Kesar Petroproducts achieved a turnover of Rs 49.66 crore, matching its financial performance from the previous fiscal year.

Chairman Dinesh Shankarlal Sharma conveyed confidence in this new venture, anticipating a 20% boost in annual revenue through innovative and consumer-focused manufacturing practices. As part of its comprehensive strategy, the company aims to strengthen market presence by unifying traditional pigment production with emerging fertilizer ventures. This reflects a broader industry trend towards diversification and technological advancement to elevate revenue streams.
